Our History
THE ORIGINAL, the first watch from traser, was introduced in 1989. It was the world's first self-illuminated watch, a model supplied to the US Army according to MIL-W-46374F specifications.
1969
mb-microtec was established by Oskar Thüler: inventor and producer of trigalight, the in-house self-illumination technology.
1989
Development and introduction of the first self-illuminated watch by mb-microtec, the P6500 Type 6, and its supply to the US Army. The main driver was the US Army’s request to develop a functional instrument according to their MIL-W-46374F military specifications. This culminated in the birth of the brand “traser”.
2010
The famous Japanese actor Yuji Oda wore the P6500 Type 6 in the police movie ”Bayside Shakedown 3”.
2011
Introduction of a special edition for the Swiss Air Force.
2012
Launch of the special edition Air Force Russia (AFR). Limited to 100 pieces and made specially for the Russian Air Force‘s 100th anniversary.
2014
traser collaborates with the global brand Red Bull on Swiss national sport.
2015
traser is Official Timekeeper for the Tour de Suisse until 2017.
2016
Product placement of traser watches in the movie ”Unleashed” with Sean Astin (”Lord of the Rings”) as leading actor.
2017
traser active in more than 40 countries with over 50 basic references.
Launch of the P68 Pathfinder Automatic

2018
mb-microtec inagurates spectacular new building
ILLUMINATING THE FUTURE
On the 25th of October, in the presence of prominent figures from politics and economics, we officially inaugurated our new building.
Adolf Ogi acted as illustrated guest speaker.
It is not only the outside of the new mb-microtec production facilities that looks different to the other constructions in the industrial area of Niederwangen, near Berne; the interior is also quite spectacular. The building took three years to construct, with CHF 23 million being invested into the project as a whole. During the construction of the new building, the highest requirements were stipulated in terms of fire, earthquake and anti-burglary protection. Some of the rooms feature sub-pressure conditions, which are regulated optimally,
while others have generators which guarantee an uninterruptible power supply.

Launch of the P67 Officer Pro Automatic Bronze
Adding a hlighlight to the Active Lifestyle collecton, traser introduces the P67 Officer Pro Automatic: the band's first bronze timepiece. Giving explorers of the future the opportunity to wear a touch of nostalgia on their wrist. Individual and refined by day, thrilling and bright by night.
2019
traser‘s 30th anniversary & mb-microtec‘s 50th anniversary.
T1000 The brightest! – traser presents the world’s brightest self-luminous watch
A classic family affair! traser and its sister company trigalight present the T1000, the world’s brightest watch with self-powered illumination. The concept watch was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of mb-microtec.
The T1000 model glows with an intensity of over 1000 microlumens and is fitted with no fewer than 318 trigalight pipes. A proprietary development, it shines 50 times more brightly than any conventional watch with H3 technology. The record-breaking watch is a special model that pays tribute to the 50 years pioneering work in self-powered illumunation and is not for sale.
